I am very excited to present my first solo exhibition, Inside/Out. The work is a sculptural installation which uses materials from the Glasgow School of Art's Mackintosh building. I was given access to the building in January this year (before the second fire) and was able to salvage a number of amazing materials including scorched wooden beams, rusted nails, wooden panels and sandstone.
The wooden beams have writing on them which hasn't been seen since the west side of the Mackintosh building was constructed in 1907. The hand-made nails all have their own individual characteristics, and the stone was taken from a quarry on the southside of Glasgow which would later become the housing estate where I grew up. This project has been a labour of love, and means everything to me.
If anyone is able to support my work, I would be so grateful. My application for funding for this project was rejected and I've spent everything I have on making it happen. Any support would help cover the cost of making the art works and support my work in the future.
Inside/Out runs from 18-27 October 2018 at the New Glasgow Society gallery at 1307 Argyle Street, Glasgow.
