On Wednesday 18th November 2015, Dylan had a choking incident whilst eating his lunch. He was eating a ham sandwich & a piece of ham got stuck, Dylan's Mummy, Ally, reacted quickly to try to remove the ham but unfortunately he went in to cardiac arrest. Having had training Ally started CPR & dialled 999. Very quickly there were 6 paramedics attending to Dylan, 2 of whom were from the Air Ambulance.

Dylan had a down time of 45 minutes, meaning his brain was without oxygen for this long. He was airlifted to Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, where he has remained since.
Dylan spent 1 week & 1 day on PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) a time that was very worrying for his Mummy & family as they waited to see if Dylan would survive. From here Dylan spent 4 days on HDU & then moved to the Neurosciences ward where he has been since.

Dylan has been diagnosed with Global Hypoxia (severe brain damage), as a result he has Dystonia, meaning he is very rigid in his body & suffers from spasms, which can be very painful for Dylan.
