    Story

For small live music venues, 2018 has become a barren wasteland. Over the years we have lost hundreds of small communities, each with their own once bustling scene lost along the way. Just this week in Manchester, legendary venue the Ruby Lounge has announced that it will be closing its doors for the last time this Christmas. Even closer to home, since 2014 we’ve lost 4 of the 5 biggest music venues in Bolton – Homage to Kico, Bar Metro, Blind Tiger, and of course – The Dog and Partridge.

Now, we’re at risk of losing the last real live music venue in Bolton. A place where we’ve all drank too much, heard too much, seen too much and spent too much. The infamous Alma Inn – Home to everyone who never had a home. Moshers, stoners, DnB heads alike – You’ve all been here enjoying some ridiculously loud music.

Unfortunately, rising costs of running the pub against falling numbers of sales and attendance at the weekly gigs has meant we’re now in a dire position where our beloved venue may not remain open past Christmas – If we even make it that far. This would mean an end to the amazing events and acts we’ve hosted over the years, such as:

    Almageddon

    Forcefest

    RiffFest

    While She Sleeps

    CrazyTown

    Dream State

    Bam Margera + fuckface unstoppable.

    Astroid Boys

    HED P.E.

    Raging Speedhorn

    DRI + MDC

We desperately need some help to ensure we can carry on bringing some of the best acts to Bolton, whilst giving our various local live scenes a platform to showcase themselves. To keep our community alive. For that, we need some cash moneys. Be that by you showing your face at the bar or donating to this cause – Any help is greatly appreciated by us, first and foremost, but also by anyone who’s ever loved our pub. We want to stay open for Bolton.

“Please help us, you’re our only hope”

The Alma needs to stay open. We need to preserve the scene we have in this town, we can't let it disappear. Regardless of who runs it, it needs to stay.

I'll try and put more in if I can. I hope it stays. This has provided me with a place to go out that I feel safe in on my own.

Good luck man, shit situation 😕. Maybe a gig to raise funds is a good shout? I’m sure based on the situation bands would play for free, we will. Anyways, all the best.
