Weʼre raising £10,000 to develop schools and orphanages in Sierra Leone
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Sierra Leone - The Land of Unconditional Love.
A place where you are at peace with who you are and who you are going to be.
A place where you can meditate next to the clear blue sea.
Hmm.. maybe for you and maybe for me.
But for some Sierra Leoneans is not all pretty pictures, fun and games. It is reality - poverty and futility.
Sierra Leone has been and continues to be exploited by the western world. Sierra Leone is rich in morals, minerals and diamonds, so why is the state of their country so underdeveloped? Why are there multiple charities claiming to help Africa yet there is so little to show for it? Why does the welfare of these children go unnoticed? Why are the education systems failing? Why? why? why?
In Oct 2017 I volunteered with the ICS and YMCA in Sierra Leone, Kenema. I was left mind boggled at how little there was to show in terms of improvement and sustainable development even though there were many charities operating within Sierra Leone.
My heart warmed when discovering a friend and previous volunteer, Soraia, returned in April 2018 to continue development. I joined Soraia in January 2019 observing the on-going development and yet my mind continued to wonder. How can we make the lifes of these people better? How can we help teachers, students, children, families and orphanges?
