Story

Charity head shave...

22nd October 2025

On the 22nd October 2021 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. For a moment, my whole world fell apart.

However, thanks to the exceptional level of care and treatment I received from our cancer and chemotherapy units at Stratford Upon Avon and Warwick Hospitals, I not only survived cancer, it inspired me to change career. So now I work in the very unit I spent many hours in receiving chemotherapy.

Working at the Rigby Unit has played a huge part in my mental recovery and has given me an opportunity to help others going through similar, this in itself is an honour. It is the 'silver lining' to my cancer story.

October 2025 will be 4 years since my diagnosis. So to mark the occasion I have decided to shave my hair off (again!), only this time it's through choice. I hope to raise as much money as possible for the Rigby and Aylesford Units.

Charitable funds cover the cost of Scalp Cooling machines and caps (used to help reduce hair loss), phlebotomy chairs, weighing scales, Site Rite Portable Ultrasound (used to help with the placement of picc lines), and many more vital pieces of equipment that are not typically covered by the NHS budget, but all contribute to improving patients experience and wellbeing.

If you can spare just a pound or two, I would be so grateful. Every penny received will go straight to our amazing Rigby and Aylesford Units.

Much love,

Amber xXx
