Hello!
I've been accepted on a volunteering Mental Health Placement in Sri Lanka for 5 weeks next summer - and now I need to fund raise to get me on my way! I set up one page which raised £75 however I'm still miles away from my target. I am hoping to do a few things to fund raise (such as a raffle I'm currently collecting prizes for).

Sri Lanka Volunteers are an organisation which help vulnerable adults and children who need their help the most. Myself and the rest of the team will be heading to Sri Lanka and spending our time volunteering in a rehabilitation and a psychiatric hospital for those with mental health issues. The rest of my time will be spend going into schools to teach young children English, Sport and basic mental health and assisting those with special needs. We will be helping these young children learn ways to deal with their mental health through creative and art therapy.

Mental health is something we see in our every day lives, there are many individuals affected and there is such a lack of support for this sector in many parts of the world. In Sri Lanka there is only one psychiatric nurse for every 500,000 people. That's why volunteers like us are needed most - I hope to entertain patients on the psychiatric wards whilst out there and bring smiles to their faces, a smile can go a long way.

I will be doing lots of different things to fund raise, and I would be very grateful for every penny sponsored or any raffle gifts! Every little helps!
