Story
In March I am taking part in a 17 day trek through the Himalayas, peaking Kala Patthar and Everest Base Camp, walking an average of 7 hours a day enduring temperatures well below 0'C and climbing up to 5500m above sea level.
Oldbury Court out of School Club is a non-profit community organisation providing nearly 250 families with year round childcare, running over two separate sites. Term time we run a breakfast club and then drop children to their schools, and then collect them for after school club. In the school holidays we are open 8-6 and run a variety of daily workshops and trips. We are a registered charity and rely heavily on fundraising to keep providing new and exciting activities for the children that attend, many of which would not have access to the activities or facility without our fundraising. With funding being cut throughout the youth sectors, fundraising is becoming increasingly important to keep our services available.
We have recently made improvements to both our sites by redecorating them. At the main site we have created a new garden area with a vegetable section and a sand play area which will next have decking put around it to make it accessible for all children. At our satellite site we also hope to make improvements to our outside area and purchase new equipment for the children to use, as well as allowing the children to create a 'wish list' of equipment they would like to have.
O C O S C aims to provide an affordable, safe and stimulating play setting for the children that attend. The club offers a wide range of creative play activities that are specifically designed to deliver the key elements of the Early Years Development Framework for the child’s stage of development.

7 years ago15 days, 150km, 200,000steps, a blizzard, lows of -30'C and up to 5600m but every bit worth it. Thank you so much to everyone that sponsored me, the actual amount raised is still being tallied but it's well over £1300 and I couldn't be more grateful. Watch this space for what it's spent on, exciting ideas in the pipeline!!!

I have worked for O.C.O.S.C for over 10 years and have seen the positive effects that having access to the play setting has on children. I want to raise money in a way that inspires the children to challenge themselves, and half way up Snowdon last year decided on Base Camp!
