I will be going on a community action expedition to Uganda with the Kindred Project to volunteer at the Nabugabo Community Learning Centre. The Kindred Project is an NGO supported by my school - Sotogrande International School, and they have jointly been helping the NCLC since 2012.
In order to participate and be eligible, I am required to raise a minimum of £500 towards the costs of the expedition, either from private or corporate sponsors. I have set my fund raising goal as £500 as I would like to try and raise as much money as possible towards the trip and I would be very grateful if you could help and assist me in this.
While in Uganda we will be doing the following:
Building a 6th classroom at NCLC
Painting of all classrooms
Acquiring and organising furniture for the new classroom
Volunteering with children at the Rock of Joy Orphanage in Masaka
We will also helping the children with their academic subjects and we will have an opportunity to learn the local language, Lugandan.
Learning Lugandan will help us understand the local culture and communicate with people more easily. This opportunity will be an amazing way to help others who are less fortunate and share experiences and stories that will enrich my learning and cultural understanding.
