    Story

Next summer, I will be giving up the gals holiday and sunbathing by the pool as i am trading it in to took part in an amazing volunteering program. Along with some other volunteers, I will be travelling to Laos, in south east Asia, to help out in a small rural community. I will be working in a elephant sanctuary where I will help socialise and care for the amazing giants and also plant crops and harvest them for them to eat.

Then, I will be working in a local school teaching young kids basic English and about nutrition, hygiene and other subjects which in their country can potentially save a life. We will also help rejuvenate and build school blocks for the kids. These children deserve to have a proper education and they are so eager to learn. As my friends and family know, I hope to become a teacher after I finish university and I believe this experience will be one that not only makes a positive impact on the children but also helps me get a step closer to my career goal.

I am a second year Sociology and Psychology student at Queen Margaret University. In my degree, we learn about different cultures and societies and I know that by experiencing Laos first hand, I will better understand some areas of my degree and be able to apply my experience to the theories and approaches I am taught.

I am a hardworking and compassionate person. I care so much about equality and really want to be able to make a difference and see these little kids grow into confident, intelligent individuals.

The funds raised will go towards my prearranged accommodation and food for the duration of the trip, but it also helps VESA supply us with building materials and teaching materials for our volunteering work. I will be completing 40+ hours of work over the duration of my trip and I am to understand that it will be hard work (lol hopefully I’ll lose a wee bit weight with the graft) but I am really eager and looking forward to it.

This is a once in a lifetime experience and if my any of my pals or family or even anybody else who thinks I’m orite wants to donate and help me out, please feel free to from this link or message me directly.

Thank you so so much xxx
