In order to embark on this expedition, I need your help to raise the total fund of £4000. A large proportion of the money will be going towards construction materials and resources to build a new school, as well as any other community projects that they want us to participate in such as building houses; simple facilities that we take for granted all the time. The rest will finance our flight costs and any other associated expenditures.

On the trip, we will get the fantastic opportunity to meet the inspirational locals themselves and learn about their culture and way of life. Not only that, we will be aiding a variety of local communities distributed all over the country, including the poverty-stricken community of Pinchollo. We will be carrying out a list of set tasks, including making mud bricks to help with the large-scale construction of houses and schools, and even restoring greenhouses in order to boost the nutrition of each child’s meals.

While the poverty rate in Lima fell to 15.7 percent in 2011 from 44.8 percent in 2004, the rural Andes and Amazon are experiencing dire conditions. According to the World Bank, a citizen of Lima earns 21 times more than a resident of the outback, where the rural poverty rate is a staggering 54 percent. Improving the standard of living for many Peruvian people is a vital, small step in the right direction to overcoming the devastating conditions of poverty in all third world countries. They need our help!
