My mum has suffered in chronic pain for the past year. She does not live anymore she exists. The pain is so severe my mum can't go out of the house. She can barely walk, she can't climb the stairs to go to bed because the pain won't allow her to. During the past year mum been Miss diagnosed more times than I can count. My mum has a scan in January and our gp said it was normal. Mum was then admitted into hospital due to not being able to manage the pain (this has happened 4 times now) the doctor told us that the scan that was done months ago shows gallstones!! The gp was wrong again!! The a&e doctor said that mum would need to have her gallbladder removed. A referral was then sent off and 2 months later we finally see the gallstone specialist he confirmed mums needed theatre. He assured us mum wouldn't have to suffer much longer and the operation would be pretty soon. We left that day overjoyed. I rang the doctors secretary to get a rough time scale and she informed me that my mum wouldn't be operated on for months. Possibly even up to March next year. My mum can't wait that long. She is on 8 zapain a day and up to 8 tramadol a day with oramorph. My mum hallucinates due to the pain killers and is unable and unsafe to be left on her own. I am caring for my once mobile and very active mum. Mum was offered the operation on a private basis by the same surgeon but instead of waiting until next year she can have it done on monday. I feel we have no other option than to go private. I have had to acquire a loan for the £6260 that is needed for mums operation, this loann has to be paid back within a year. There is two reasons for me wanting to go private the main one being to relieve mums pain but the other reason is due to my mum having skin cancer on her nose, this was diagnosed last year but cant be operated on until the gallstones have been removed.The cancer has grown 3ml in the time were waiting.
