My Challenge!

My name is Andrew Newton and I’ve challenged myself to raise awareness of the difficulties in providing water in Africa and at the same time raising valuable funds for an Isle of Man based charity of volunteers working with orphans in Uganda (DO! Developing Orphans). I’m doing this by running an Isle of Man half marathon on Sunday 19 November with a five litre tankof water to illustrate the difficultes communities in Africa have in obtaining water for life

What is DO!?

DO! has been working in Northern Uganda for ovef six years providing for the education and vocational training of impoverished orphans of the conflict that engulfed northern Uganda for 20 years until 2007. The charity is run by volunteers in the Isle of Man and works with the Broadway primary school in Uganda. The charity has rescued 193 children in 63 child headed families since 2009. DO! has also assisted with the surveying and digging of bore holes in Northern Uganda that provides vital water needs for the local community, allowing them to rely on a fresh localised water supply and not contaminated streams.
