    Story

Well, it was one of those incident where time stands still momentarily.

I was working for a company close to my home In an industry I was completely new to. It arose as my friend was manager there, I had just sold my own business and was taking time off before I started a new venture. My friend suddenly found himself short staffed and asked if I'd step in for a month or so to help out on the Stud Farm at a busy time. Loving horses I said yes. Duties were varied. From mucking out, tractor driving, lawn cutting, poo picking, getting yearlings ready for sales and even handling mares and Foals. I was happy to do the lot as it was helping out a friend.

On this one day I was helping move a notoriously naughty foal with his mother to a nursary paddock from his stable. We had to work as a pair, head lad leading at the front and me asked to follow as to not let him back up as he had previously got used to ding this because he was scared of the puddle in the gate way. This had since dried up but because of his temperament he still used entering the field as an excuse to prat around! He was moving nicely forward so I eased off as to not crowd him on his entrance to the paddock. Having left a good distance I suddenly found him reversing at speed and while I still had momentum moving found myself suddenly with both his feet in my face and I was on the floor. Now missing three and a half teeth. All were snapped with the nerves hanging down and my tongue able to hang through my face.

I was taken to the hospital in the car of the stud farm manger who was visibly shaken by what had happened to me. He apologised and offered all his help saying he would see I was looked after, giving me his word. Clearly concerned anout head injuries and possible broken jaw as well facial wounds and tooth loss. Luckily, the facial lacerations and tooth loss is where it ended for me. I was very sore and obviously now concerned for my appearance toothless at the front with big stitches. I returned to work after 3 days as they were so short staffed but had to take a further two days off as I couldn't manage the pain.

After another week of the swelling going down I was fitted with a temporary denture which was agreed with stud farm manager and surely paid for while more swelling subsided and he would then have me fitted with proper screw in teeth to the point you wouldn't know other than the scars what had happened.

sadly, Because I didn't show any signs of long term Injury and shortly after this incident I decided maybe foals weren't for me I left the company, the stud farm manager owner felt their duty to me was done and reneged on their promise and wrote tonne saying the tenport dentures were a fair gesture and they would not be fitting my new teeth. They would also not claim on their insurance for me.

So feeling let down and upset and having had to now go through already expensive surgery twice to have two of the infected stumps removed I have had to ask the general public for help to raise £8,000 for new screw in teeth.
