Weʼre raising £3,000 to Help get our rescued animals the vets care they need and deserve.
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
As avid animal lovers, myself and my family have rehomed rescued dogs (and cats) for over 30 years. We do this out of complete love and devotion to animals as no animal deserves to suffer or endure suffering and never be rewarded with the kindness, love and safety of a loving home.
We always do our best by the animals and no matter what - the animals needs come before others.
We, as a family have always been this way however, upon my own health issues and being diagnosed with fertility compromisation post reproductive cancer i have come to see our animals even more so as my babies.
The problem we have encountered with rescuing these fur babies is that with the majority having had trauma, injuries or illness left untreated by their original owners is that to insure these babies is an extremely hard and sometimes (as we have experience) impossible.
With most of our animals being older and having existing illnesses/conditions when we rescue them the insurance companies are loathed to offer cover policies that arent stupendously expensive and most of which even then will not cover the existing issues.
At the moment our old man Rocco has been back and forward to the vets as he has a large growth in his groin area. The vets originally said it was a fatty lump and to ignore it (same information from multiple visits) then because we could tell this wasnt the case and were thorns in the vet practices side they agreed to perform a biopsy.
On picking Rocco up from the biopsy appointment we were told (conveniently in my opinion) that there was no record of information, diagnosis of the “fatty lump” or anything like it on their system - we were furious. Results from his biopsy came back “inconclusive” yet the vet has now told us 4 or 5 times that its pointless foing anything to try and help Rocco as he is old and its likely cancer... now i know there is that possibility but to obtain “inconclusive results” then just decide to wtite him off as its “likely cancer” is ridiculous to me... if you were to compair that to humans... a doctor wouldnt take a biopsy from a patient, receive inconclusive results but tell tge patient ”theres no point doing anything as youre old and it likely cancer...”.
We have done nothing but stress our shame in how the vets have been this time round and how they have instilled us with no fairh in the service they offer. We have used the same practice for over 30 years but it seems to be that since the original vet retired the new vets are more concerned with quick turnaround treatment of animals to heighten the financial gains for themselves and the practice.
We told the vet that we would like a referal to the vet hospital to give our big boy the best chance possible and this is where i am appealing to you.
Because Rocco had existing issues etc insurers were anything but forthcoming and as a result have been told to expect extensive bills from the vet hospital. We will not give up on any of our animals as they deserve the treatment they require and this is why i am asking for your help and support.
Many thanks for taking the time to read this.
