Story
My name is Anita and I'm 45 years young. On April 1st 2016, I was diagnosed with a rare cancer, a Neuroendocrine, small cell bladder cancer. After tests it was shown to of spread through the bladder wall into the muscle and fat, into my lymph nodes, my liver and my bones! It is classed as "terminal'. I am married (nearly 3 years) and have a 23 year old son. It upsets us all to think that I may not be here to see my son marry and to see any future grandchildren. 46! thats nothing, I still have a life to live. My happy ever after had become a nightmare!
I have had one lot of "palliative" chemotherapy and am on my second lot, I also had radiotherapy at christmas, we are waiting to see if this has done anything, the pain is becoming less bearable and am now taking oramorph to help me. I am still classed was "terminal" which basically means that there isn't a lot of hope of me surviving this disgusting disease.
I have been thrown small lifeline recently, as it seems that I may be able to have Immune therapy, which has the potential to extend my life, for how long? who knows, the treatments are still in the early stages and its being spoken about to replace chemotherapy and radiotherapy in the future.
There is a downside to this, as I will have to fund this treatment myself as it isn't on the NHS and private health insurance won't cover the costs. My Oncologist will consider me but only if we can find the funds. The London Consultant costs £400 on it's own
We would love to raise £90,000 to cover the cost of the treatment, i am aware that thats HUGE amount of money and it saddens me that there is a price on my life, how much money would you put on your life?
Please help me raise this money, All I know is that I have absolutely nothing to lose, if I do nothing then cancer will end my life
Thank you for reading my story .... I do have a facebook page called "My Big Fat British Bladder Tumour" if you would like to get in touch
