Weʼre raising £1,400 to Indonesia - SLV Global Mental Health Placement 2019.
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
This summer I have been given the opportunity to volunteer in Bali, Indonesia on a four week mental health placement, with SLV Global. Bali is a third world country, which means resources to help those suffering from mental health are very limited, so individuals rely on volunteers for help and support. I will be providing psychiatric support to those that need it, in the form of conducting therapy and physical exercise sessions. I will also be teaching children English, which is extremely beneficial towards improving their chances at future employment. I will be working Monday to Friday in carefully planned workshops, in the community and within the one psychiatric hospital in Bali.
The placement fee is £1400 which will be funded by myself and therefore I am doing the National Three Peaks challenge in June 2019, in which my mum, thankfully has nominated herself to be the designated driver. This challenge involves climbing the three highest mountains in Great Britain; Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis and Snowdon, in under 24 hours with my friend and course mate Jessica Gregori. Therefore any donations, no matter how big or small, would be greatly appreciated.
This placement coincides with me being a second year undergraduate psychology student at the University of Liverpool, with mental health being something which is very close to my heart. Therefore I am grateful to be given this privilege to make a difference to peoples lives who need it and I am looking forward to the challenge.
