On Sunday 20th August our lovely mum had a terrible horse riding accident which has left her with injuries which will change her life forever. She broke several ribs, her sternum, a bone in her hand and her back in 2 places. Sadly mum is now paralysed chest down and has been told that she will not walk again. Obviously as anybody would, she is finding this hard to come to terms with. Because of this her house will need to be altered dramatically to allow her to come home when she is finished in rehabilitation. For definite we will need ramps up into the house, both external & internal doors are going to have to be widened to allow her wheelchair through, the kitchen will have to be fully altered, a through floor lift will have to be fitted so that she can get upstairs, partition walls are going to have to be knocked down so that mum's bedroom can be made bigger & the bathroom is going to have to be extended & then totally ripped out to allow for a wet room to be put in. And then there's all the bits that we're not too sure about yet, hoists, assistance handles, lowering light switches, special wheelchairs, special beds etc etc. All of these alterations are going to cost a small fortune.

Anybody who knows mum knows that she is one of the kindest, most caring & selfless women around. She has so far spent her retirement doing volunteer work work in a nearby care home 3 days a week & walking local guide dogs to allow them to have a free run every few days. We have set up this page to try raise some money to help our parents pay for the alterations needed in the house. Every little bit helps & we can not tell you how much it means to our mum & all of our family. We're determined to not let this awful accident ruin her life & give her the very least that she deserves, a house that can fully accomodate her & her needs.

We're also in the process (along with the help of our amazing friends) of setting up several events to help raise money for both the house alterations and also for a spinal injuries charity who have been a great support for mum throughout this difficult time. We just wanted to set this page up now to start the ball rolling as the sooner the house is adapted the sooner mum can come home.
