Weʼve raised £4,000 to raise money for a new accessibility van for Anne and Catherine's fostered children after someone vandalised and destroyed their current one

Funded on Tuesday, 13th October 2020

    Story

On 12th September, probably in the early hours of the morning, someone broke into Anne and Catherine's van to see if there was anything worth stealing, and after finding nothing, decided to set it on fire inside and leave it to burn.

To put this in context for you, Anne and Catherine currently foster three wonderful children with demanding disabilities, along with another daughter, and they all live in a house in Norfolk Park, Sheffield. This van is a lifeline to them - it means they get to take the children out for trips in parks, in the countryside, to visit friends or for essential visits to the Children's Hospital or for other important healthcare-related reasons.

Their van was well-loved and not new. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the insurance won't even start to cover the cost of a new van, let alone all the important accessibility equipment they absolutely need to kit it out with.

As a community, these two wonderful humans have brought us so much joy and support, that I wouldn't feel right leaving them with this burden, and that is why I implore you to dig deep and be generous so that they can move forward from this quickly with the van and equipment they really need.

Here are some photos of the damage...

Hello everyone. Just to say a MASSIVE thank you for your incredible support for our friends - they are so chuffed! I'm so proud of our community (Norfolk Park and online) because we've hit the target within 24 hours, which is a brilliant achievement! We have decided to leave this page online, because people may wish to still give. We don't know what the insurance will pay out and it is likely that they will need to find quite a lot more money to purchase the right kind of van and get it ready for the children. Thank you all! x
