Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Starting on the 16th of February at midday for 24hrs we will host and take part in a cycle relay.
To help fund life saving treatment for our friend Paula Twycross against a rare and aggressive strain of cervical cancer.
You are most welcome to come along, encourage, take part and spread the word.
This is Paula's story taken from Ben Cladd's Just giving page...
Almost three years ago Paula (36) was diagnosed with cervical cancer, a rare and aggressive strain. A full hysterectomy was required. She underwent the operation and soon we received a letter confirming that the operation was a complete success. Four months later Paula started to experience severe pain, she was admitted to Margate hospital to get her pain under control, but yes we were told the cancer was back a tumour in the pelvis. Paula underwent chemotherapy but poor health, being admitted to hospital three times with sepsis put an end to the chemoptherapy. Soon she was to have thirty three doses of radiotherapy during which her kidney tubes were damaged and she had to undergo an operation to have her tubes cut and replumbed into her bladder. This was a success and after six weeks a scan showed she was again all clear. Six months passed and Paula had two scans that showed "IT" was back and spreading, she was back on chemotherapy undergoing six cycles and destroying her life once again. When finished a scan and a visit to the consultant was arranged. Only one word was necessary from him "SORRY" the cancer was still there and there was no more the NHS could do. He suggested clinical trials, well seven visits to top London hospitals and every time the answer was no! So she will have to go private. At a visit to Rivers Hospital Dr Mahmood told us about an immunotheropy drug that had been released to general use and that he was prepared to treat her. One week later Paula had immunotheropy with doses every three weeks. After three cycles she will have a scan. If she responds the treatment will continue for as long as it takes. Costing £3626 per cycle and we are trying to achieve enough for 10 cycles, it may be more. So our target is £40,000. If you can help, my family and I will be eternally grateful. I hope that no one reading this ever has to go through cancer and it's traumas especially when your daughter looks at you and says "daddy I don't want to die" thank you!
