Weʼve raised £1,285 to pay for Professional representation at the Public Appeal Hearing for the planning application for a huge church and the associated traffic

    Mobberley, United Kingdom
Funded on Thursday, 8th February 2018

    Story

Further to the previous fundraising, which was a fabulous effort from all in the village, the appeal has now been called to a public hearing. This is due to the level of local opposition and great work from our MP Esther McVey to ensure this decsion was not made behind closed doors.

The reason we need to raise further funds is that we have the report written and now someone needs to represent the Mobberley residents at the hearing In Bristol. The applicants will have heavy weight planning consultants How Planning representing them we therefore need someone equally as qualified to represent the residents of our village. We have a quote of £1500 to do this.

We really appreciate all the donations so far. If everyone can dig deep and give us the best chance of not getting the decision overturned.

An appeal has been submitted for Mobberley Riding School to be developed in to a huge church. The application was initially rejected by the Northern planning committee due to the unsustainable location of the proposal. It cannot be accessed by train or bus so everyone must arrive by car.

The Plymouth Brethren church hold services several times a day (up to 5 times on a Saturday alone) and the congregation arrive in huge numbers from Manchester, Crewe, Stockport and further. This will affect the neighbouring villages and Towns as well as Mobberley village itself as the country roads are narrow and cannot accommodate that volume of traffic at the same time. It is inevitable that there will be queues of traffic causing issues on the roads leading to and from Wilmslow and Knutsford.

The appeal document says 140 cars will arrive at any one time (we know from previous statements this will be more). They only have parking spaces to accommodate 140 cars. Any parking on the country road will reduce it to a single track meaning no cars can pass and will cause travel chaos.

The church do not allow their congregation to mix with others outside of the church therefore the community are not allowed to use the facilities at all. So it brings nothing to the community.

Please help to stop this development. If everyone who objected to the original application donated just £5 we would achieve the amount we need to provide a professional response and give us the best chance of success.

Please help to save our countryside!

All monies raised will be used to fight the appeal and if there are any surplus monies they will be donated to the Mobberley Rose Queen or any other local organisations in need of Funding.
