Why are we doing this?

Charlie came up with the great idea of fundraising to hopefully raise enough money to install our own dedicated defibrillator on the Appleby estate.  

Whilst we hope this will never be used, a defibrillator could save someones life on our estate .. for every minute that ticks by without CPR and early defibrillation, the person’s chances of survival are reduced by 10%....that makes you think eh?!

I can help and I can win prizes too? Wow!

We have decided to sell tickets to hopefully raise £1,000 and thanks to the generosity of the people on our estate and our local businesses, we have an amazing selection of over 25 prizes to be won!

We are hoping to sell in excess of 200 x £5 tickets - each ticket giving you one entry into the prize draw.  At this stage we would like to sell tickets to people within the estate (and of course Appleby Friends!) so the winners of the prizes are more likely to be on our estate.

When is this amazing prize draw?

The draw date will be announced in due course but we are hoping this will be the week before Christmas.

Great! How do I buy tickets?

Please *ONLY DONATE IN MULTIPLES OF £5* but please buy as many as you like! 

£5 = 1 entry into the prize draw, £10 = 2 entries into the prize draw, £15 = 3 entries into the prize draw, £20 = 4 entries into the prize draw etc, etc.

£50 = 10 entries into the prize draw and a free bottle of Prosecco!

Oh and don't worry if someone does need a defibrillator as it is very easy to use ...Ring 999 and you will be told the unlock code of the cabinet and then talked through how to use it (as well as being given spoken instructions by the defibrillator itself). The defibrillator will detect whether a shock to the heart is needed so will not work while trying it out on your cat, dog or neighbours!

If you're amazingly rich and want to buy loads of tickets but would prefer to do this anonymously outside of this page, please let Charlie or I know via a Facebook message or via the email addresses below and we will sort it.

The small print (without the small font)....

£1,050 is the estimated cost at this stage.  We are also applying for grants.  Any surplus funds will be donated to a relevent charity. If we get loads of money we may try purchase two for the estate.  This is a 'not for profit' fund raise.  (Charlie wouldn't even let me get the Prosecco for our meeting on expenses). Justgiving do make a charge (5%) for all donations but we thought this was the best way of setting up online payments that were fair and 100% transparent - these costs will come out of the overall fund or Charlie will be selling off her children. We did look at setting up a dedicated charity but decided it wasn't worth the red tape and extra work just for a one-off fund raise. We are being advised on the best location for the defibrillator on our estate - more details will follow.  The cabinet will be locked and can only be accessed via a call to 999. The draw will be completely random and filmed on the day to ensure 100% fair. Some prizes do have a limited timeframe. We are not a big corporate so Charlie and I will also be donating/buying tickets too - It's not a fix if we win anything! No cash alternatives. Please remember this is for the benefit of all of us and Charlie and I are doing this in our own time. Please remember the price of your shares can go down as well as up. This draw does not form any part of a PPI contract. This small print is not exhaustive and I might add extra bits if I want. Be nice and don't blame us if you don't like your prize and please, please DO NOT try using the defibrillator on your neighbours cat just to see what happens - it won't work!
