Weʼre raising £100 to Help fund Blake's therapy, alternative medicine and equipment needs.
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
I'm taking part in the Gung Ho 5k on the 18th of May 2019 to raise funds for Blake McMillan.
Blake was born with a DNA duplication called MECP2 Duplication Syndrome was discovered in 2005. It is a progressive neurological disorder, primarily affecting males. Common features include non-verbal communication, infantile hypotonia (low muscle tone), global developmental delay, intellectual impairment and/or autistic traits, recurrent deadly respiratory infections, epilepsy. Other signs and symptoms include ataxia (wobbly movements), gastro-oesophageal reflux, severe constipation, aspiration, and feeding difficulties.
Recent technological breakthroughs in communication have shown that children affected by MECP2 Duplication Syndrome have been essentially trapped within their bodies.
Blake's mum Jenny tirelessly fund raises towards a cure and to meet the costs of providing therapies, alternative medicines and sensory equipment to improve Blake's every day life.
Being a mum myself to 3 boys I think Jenny is an inspiration running charity shops and a large Blake and Gold event to fund research into a cure for Mecp 2.
However she also has to fund raise for therapies which help Blake that are not funded on the NHS. Which is why I have decided to try and help by signing up for my first 5k race.
Any donations large or small are appreciated and will go a long way to help this little boy keep on fighting until a cure is found. If you can't donate please give my page a share instead.

About the fundraiser
As I approach the life begins at 40 birthday I decided to challenge myself to improve my health and fitness. I signed up for my first ever 5k race but to make it more fun I made it a Gung Ho one. I wanted to use this as an opportunity to raise funds for a local cause.
