We are proud to announce that two members of our Investment Management team, Gregory Perdon, Co-Chief Investment Officer and Eren Osman, Investment Director will attempt to scale L'Aiguille du Moine, in Chamonix, this summer. Gregory and Eren have worked together for over twelve years and will be raising funds to be equally split between two charities, Essex and Herts Air Ambulance and the Sierra Club.

Founded by legendary conservationist John Muir in 1892, the Sierra Club is now one of the largest and most influential grassroots environmental organisations. Their successes range from protecting millions of acres of wilderness, to assisting the passing of important environmental legislation. The Sierra Club stands to explore and protect the most wild places on earth.

In August 2016 a member of the Arbuthnot Investment Management team and close colleague, Joanne Wiltshire, had a serious horse riding incident that resulted in severe damage to her leg. Given the extent of her injuries, and without the assistance of Essex and Herts Air Ambulance, Joanne would have almost certainly lost her leg.

Gregory has led previous charity mountain climbing challenges including a successful accent of the Mont Blanc (4810m), France. Eren, a keen indoor climber, will be marking his first summit through the completion of this challenge.

Climbing the South ridge of L'Aiguille du Moine (3412m) starts from Montenvers in Chamonix and requires two days. After traversing Europe's longest glacier (La Mer de Glace), they will ascent rock scrambles to arrive at a high altitude hut. After a 4am start, they will then attempt the well known rock climb of approximately 1,300 ft.

All costs of the ascent are being shared by Eren, Gregory and Arbuthnot- allowing all funds raised to be allocated directly.
