Story
The inspirational figure of Dr. Kiran Martin founded Asha in 1988, after caring solely for more than 100 citizens of a slum in New Delhi. 'Asha' means Hope in Hindu and through this hope Dr. Kiran has benefitted the lives of more than 500000 people in over 60 slums across India.
After learning about the exceptional work of Asha in action, myself and 11 others from the Wallace High School in Lisburn are travelling to the Mayapuri Slum Colony in New Delhi to teach in Asha's Community Centre located in the middle of the Slum. We aim to bring teaching equipment and books to allow us to educate the children who live in Mayapuri and to ultimately help them to a better quality of life.
To raise vital funds to help us I am going to do a 100km bike ride in one day, with my friends joining me at certain stages and also my family are holding a coffee morning in support too.
Our whole team would be very grateful for any support that is given to us.
