Story
Hello,
We are RSPCA Worcester and Mid Worcestershire Branch. We are an independently funded branch of the RSPCA, so we rely soley on the publics support and donations.
We have been helping to rescue and rehome animals in the area for many years now, but with lots of time, saving and dedicated people, we have managed to build and open our first centre on the 17th November.
Our policy is to rehome animals, not destroy them. We believe every life should be given a chance.
Astra is a 2 year old female tabby, found injured in a garden where no one came forward to claim her. It was a suspected she had a broken pelvis, most likely due to an RTA. On veterinary recommendation, we put her on strict crate rest with pain relief and gave her a few weeks to see if it could self heal and set.
Unfortunately, on her check up the pelvis had not self healed and on further inspection found to be irreparable, meaning she would have to have a her leg removed.
Astra is a beautiful cat, she has been impeccably mannered throughout all of her veterinary care and still adores people- despite the amount of pain she must be in.
At the same time, we have Khaleesi. She is a 9 year old JRT/Dachshund that is bright, active and sweet. She loves food, her ball and walks. Khaleesi was surrendered over to inspectors as the owners had not been able to give her any veterinary care. Khaleesi has a large mammary growth (more likely caused from not being neutered and probably bred from). We are having the lump and entire mammary strip removed, plus her spay. We will have the lump checked once removed and hope to Xray her to check internally for anything we can't see.
We are also looking for Temporary foster for Khaleesi, so that she doesn't have to recover in kennels.
We do not yet know if this is cancerous and if it has spread, but she deserves a chance, like every other animal that comes into our care, regardless of her age.

8 years agoHello, I would like to thank you all who donated and shared our cause, we have raise £205 in a couple of days and that is amazing! We deeply appreciate it! I visited Astra today at the vets, as you can see she is her sweet self but has a pretty hefty scar from the surgery! She is doing really well in recovery, after getting over the initial shock of wondering where her leg had gone! So we would like to extend our thanks to the vets that are taking such good care of her. Thank you!
