What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Story

As many children as 1 in 68 are diagnosed as autistic and the number is growing as methods of diagnosis improve. The challenges of a neurological disorder like autism are not just mental but are often physical too.

Autism can result in social awkwardness and overwhelming or underwhelming responses to sensory input, feelings of severe anxiety and of loneliness.

Autism Dogs is a Community Interest Company (that was Therapy Animals CIC), driven and motivated by our love of dogs and our passion for helping people diagnosed with autism.

By adding the wonderful benefits of one of our highly trained Assistance Dogs into the life of an autistic person, we hope to improve their independence, develop new skills and gain greater social confidence.

An Assistance Dog can help someone diagnosed with autism feel more confidence and calm, improve their speech and help develop motor skills, intervene at times of anxiety or meltdown , prevent a child from bolting and motive them to engage in more activities or go outdoors.

There is a growing demand for these specialist dogs that undergo over 50 hours of training and assessment before they move into their forever home. The actual cost of a full training Programme is £11,950 but the Autism Dogs CIC team donate a generous 40% of their time voluntarily!

Autism Dogs CIC is raising funds for a special 'Bursary fund' that will be used to contribute to the costs of an Assistance Dog and Training Programme.
