100 mile for Avalon

As many of you may know I take part in Ultra Marathons (that’s a foot race over 26 miles) and do so for fun. Today I signed up to one not for fun but to raise money to help a friend and his young family.

Running has brought lots of amazing people in to my life and none more so than Gary White and his Partner Jessica Scott, who are both local Oldham runners. They have a beautiful 3 year old daughter called Avalon whom I had the pleasure of meeting on a race this year, who spent all her time helping and supporting the runners even though only 3 she clapped and cheered us all on.

Just three weeks ago their life were turned upside down, when they got the heart breaking news that Avalon were diagnosed with Acute Lymphatic Leukaemia.

Jess has had to step off her nursing course and therefore lost her bursary payments she relied on and Avalon's Dad Gary is in the predicament of work to pay the bills or be by his sick daughter’s side at the hospital.

Having heard this heart breaking news I decided to dedicate my next race the 100 mile White Rose Ultra on the 4th of November, to Avalon, Gary and Jessi and help raise money for this beautiful family, so they don’t have financial pressure to add to their worries.
