    Story

Mum was a very special person. We want to celebrate her life by helping others. That's what she'd have wanted. So we decided to find some challenges that our friends and family could enjoy together through the year. To help to support the charities who do an amazing job to support so many people and helped Mum when she needed it most. The list of events is up on Facebook, please check it out and decide what you fancy doing or supporting. We will be updating the information regularly, we are looking forward to a year of fun!

Macmillan in the BGH is made up of a group of tireless doctors, nurses, counsellors and other staff. Mum was there on a weekly basis and they always made her smile and made sure we were okay.

The Maggie's centre in Edinburgh is a place of normality and relaxation. Mum went on courses there with specially trained counsellors and therapists and had the chance to talk to other people who were fighting cancer. She always talked of how nice and supportive they were. The Maggie' also did Kids days where we actually had the chance to go up and meet other children who had parents or close family members who had been diagnosed with cancer. It really helped us make sense of what was going on and they were so lovely there and encouraged us to express ourselves.

The Margaret Kerr Unit is full of the most lovely people. It is a lovely part of the BGH and for the duration mum was there is was lovely and peaceful, away from the bustle of the hospital.

Hope is a local charity which was set up by close friends of mum's. Hope is dedicated to promoting exercise and complimentary therapies for people being treated for or recovering from cancer.
