Imagine holding your child in your arms for the first time and not knowing how you are going to clothe them or where they are going to sleep. Imagine having no money to buy nappies and no family to support you. This can be the situation that many mothers find themselves in and Baby Basics are determined to meet that need in a very practical way.

Baby Basics is an organisation that works with Health Visitors, Midwives and other professionals to provide starter kits for new mums and babies in need. They help vulnerable people such as teenage mums, those seeking asylum and women fleeing domestic abuse and trafficking. Their Moses baskets provide a safer bed for the babies to sleep in and are packed full of toiletries, nappies, wipes, maternity pads etc as well as blankets, towels and baby clothes. For some of the recipients these are the only items that they have for their child.

We are a group of women (and mums) stepping out of our comfort zone to take part in the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge helping raise funds for Baby Basics Bolton and Bury. To raise money, we will be walking approximately 24 miles (including over 1500m of ascent) in under 12 hours on the 9th June 2018. The 3 Peaks of the challenge are Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.

All of the money raised will go directly towards the work of Baby Basics Bolton and Bury.
