Story
In honour of a BAJ Apprentice, aged 19, who recently lost his battle against leukaemia, Lili Capelle, Head of Apprenticeships, has organised a charity event where she will be shaving her head to raise money which will be donated to CCLG, a charity selected by BAJ students, and donate her hair to become a wig for cancer patients.
The British Academy of Jewellery and the Koppel Project will be holding a charity event on Leather Lane in Hatton Garden between 1-2pm, 8th of August 2017 to raise donations for the Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG), who support doctors, nurses, parents and carers in providing children with the best possible treatment and care,
Having felt the personal battle that her mum and Aunt had with cancer a few years ago, Lili organised this event because “even for people who are not sick, cancer is tough emotionally; seeing people you love unwell and knowing there is nothing you can do to relieve their pain. I really wanted to do something to help, as well as raise awareness that cancer can also affect younger people”.
If you would like to get involved in supporting the event please email: info@baj.ac.uk and donate generously. We look forward to seeing you on the 8th!
