Story
On Friday 10th February, Friends of Balliol will be hosting the 'Polar Plunge' at Balliol Lower School.
This cold water swim will involve a team of staff, governors and Friends of Balliol taking a ‘midnight dip’, aiming to swim continuously as part of a relay team between the hours of 11pm-1am.
We are aiming to raise as much money as possible to contribute towards much needed resources for the school, as Balliol Lower transitions to Primary status in September 2017.
All sponsorship is gratefully received, supporting us in what will be a very chilly challenge!
Friends of Balliol (FOB) is a voluntary independent charity, made up of an elected mixture of parents, staff and members of the community. Its purpose is to support the school, supporting the facilities provided by the Local Authority to advance the education of the children, through a strong partnership with the school itself. We do this by fostering close co-operation and communication among parents, staff and others associated with the school, extending our relationship, and engaging in activities that support the school. Friends of Balliol play an important role within the school and local community with activities centered on fundraising and communication. As well as raising money for new toys and resources we also make significant contributions to make school trips more affordable to families.

7 years agoThank you so much to everyone who has given so generously to support our Polar Plunge. Twenty five of us took the plunge (literally) on a very, very cold and SNOWY Friday evening. Everyone managed to stay in the water for their full five minutes and some even looked like they may actually have enjoyed the experience! We have been overwhelmed by your generosity and will let you know how much we have raised altogether when we're back at school next week.

7 years agoWell, just 4 sleeps to go now and great to see that the weather forecast suggests a very cold spell approaching! Thank you everyone for your pledges so far, please keep spreading the word as we are all beginning to be very afraid and need your pledges to know it's all going to be worth the pain!
