Story
There are thirteen million children in India who are homeless living on the streets, of which 2 million are orphans. It is most notable in the cities like Bangalore. Children who are abandoned or abused by their parents or with no parents at all. Many live below the poverty line and are malnourished. They have no access to healthcare or education.
Rabboni Mercy Trust is a small charity that works in partnership with an Indian pastor and his wife in Bangalore who care for around 25 of these children.Pastor Raja and Jebasheela his wife have been caring for children since 1998 alongside their church ministry. They started the Rabboni Mercy Orphanage with no visible means of support, when 2 children in a desperate state were brought to them. Today they are caring for around 25 children. They provide food, clothes, education, medical care, emotional and spiritual help. The aim of the orphanage is not only to care for the physical and material needs of the children, but also to tell them of the love of God in Christ Jesus.
In December myself and Laura were able to visit with Raja and Jebasheela and meet their wonderful kids and we were blown away by their ministry, and sacrificial way of life. This summer I am returning to Bangalore, along with Jamie Dill our Pastoral Intern at church. We are hoping to support and encourage the ministry going on through both the orphanage and church- and we would love to be able to bring them a gift to support their ongoing work.
