Diagnosed with prostate cancer and need radiography for 6 to 8 weeks and will not get any company sick pay and dont now how I will pay bills and morgage treatment starts in July/AugustI have recently been diagnosed with locally advanced prostate cancer, at only 54 years old this has come as a total shock to both my family and myself! Since my diagnosis in December, it has taken me a long time to come to terms with it and deal with the emotional rollercoaster the word cancer brings to your life.
My main focus now is to stand up to Cancer and not let it beat me! Therefore, along with the hormonal therapy I am currently having I will need 6 – 8 weeks of radiotherapy which is due to start within the next 8 weeks. Once this treatment starts, I won’t be able to work my normal hours, and there will be times I probably won’t be able to work at all! In my job, I am only entitled to statuary sick pay, this won’t cover my bills and mortgage. I am already worrying how I am going to support me and my family. Life is so unfair, you don’t only have to deal with the disease and the treatment but you also have to try and stay afloat finically too and not lose everything you have worked hard to achieve!
