Batten disease is a severe neurological disease affecting children, causing blindness, seizures, autism leading to dementia, loss of motor function and premature death. Most children are born with no sign of disease which is obviously heartbreaking for parents to see their children start to deteriorate during these early years. Batten disease is a collection of rare childhood diseases and CLN5 is a rare variant of Batten disease. Freddie and Louie Dawkins are twins affected by CLN5 disease. There is very little funding to support research into CLN5 disease leaving families like the Dawkins powerless and pessimistic of any option for progressive treatments in the future. They have taken things into their own hands to personally raise funds for vital research into CLN5 disease. We hope to contribute in a small way to their battle.

The Dawkins family are in the process of setting up heir own charity as Battle for Batten and 100% of the funds donated here will be transferred to Battle Batten.

We will cycle ~230 miles from Bangor on the North coast of Wales to Cardiff on the South coast over 3 days from Friday 14th July. We would really appreciate your support.
