Weʼre raising £500 to Fund research for Batten Disease CLN5 and life experiences for Freddie and Louie Dawkins
- Hucknall, Nottingham, UK
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
In 2014 Battle Batten was set up to raise funds for research into Batten Disease CLN5 – a horrid disease affecting Freddie and Louie, Andrew and Sarah’s beautiful twin boys born in 2005. They have become blind, immobile and suffer epilepsy – but their battle to live life to the fullest touches everyone’s hearts.
Funding into Batten disease is limited; funding into variant CLN5 was virtually none existent.
Fast forward to 2018 and £150,000 of funds raised later, we have managed to establish three research programmes and a drug trial that has helped alleviate symptoms for Freddie and Louie; and started a journey of research that could, if continued, support children across the world for the future.
The community, and especially the Impact fitness community led by Phil Coker, has been the most amazing and inspirational group of people that have made this happen.
If you would like to contribute your bit to supporting both research, equipment and life experiences for Freddie and Louie, and children across the globe, please feel free to leave a message of support and / or your donation.
Together we make a difference.
