    Story

I am writing to apply for charitable funding for a Children’s wing at St Georgette’s Memorial Hospital in Nyanza, Kenya; to be sponsored by the charitable organisation Greensite Empowerment Projects (GSEP). Please find enclosed description of the organisation for your consideration.

The charitable organisation GSEP intends to set up a Free Children’s Ward / Clinic and Health Information Service at St Georgette’s Memorial Hospital. The Hospital will be built in Nyanza; providing low-cost healthcare services to the community. It will use donated funds and equipment to subsidise the provision of free healthcare and health information services to children via a charity ‘wing’ sponsored by GSEP.

I am the Founder and Managing Director of St Georgette’s Memorial Hospital along with GSEP. I have been inspired to set up the Hospital having sadly suffered loss of my own daughter (Georgette) to malnutrition in 1991 whilst living as a young woman in Kenya. This was primarily due to a lack of education on the condition. I also suffer from the auto-immune condition Lupus, having been diagnosed after moving to the UK. I feel that, whilst widespread awareness of diseases such as HIV has now been achieved in Kenya, my personal experience has taught me that Lupus and other auto-immune conditions are still not well known in the region. I therefore wish to use the Hospital as a vehicle to promote awareness of auto-immune conditions.

I also intend to use the Hospital as a base to promote awareness of malnutrition, malaria, HIV and other preventable diseases with the overall aim of preventing / reducing instances of childhood death in the region. Furthermore, I also intend to use my qualifications; Public and Environmental Health and Counselling to provide counselling to the local community.

I have already secured donations of hospital beds from an NHS Hospital Trust. Other medical and diagnostic equipment have also been offered. I would now like to respectfully request that your organisation considers donating funds to assist in establishing this facility. We are seeking a total donation of GBP £50,000 but would be happy to welcome any financial contribution available. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any queries. I look forward to hearing from you.
