    Story

    This page has been set up in order to, hopefully, get us to our target of £10,000! We have been fundraising for 18 months and have raised £8880 and would love to get to our ambitous target by may. We want to thank so many of our friends and family who have been with us through the toughest of times and done so much to get us to this point. To many to name, but to those of you have run, walked, baked, donated time and prizes to Gracies event thank you so very much. Thank you to Bethan (Ryan’s sister) who has reignited this last push and is running the London marathon in the coming weeks. Finally on April 14 we will be at East End Park in Dunfermline doing a bucket collection, so if you are in the area drop by. Thank you if you have donated im the past, it means so much to us both. For those of you who have yet to hear our story read on;

    After a long process and three attempts at IVF, in March 2016 Ryan and I were delighted that our most recent attempt had been successful and that I was pregnant. Initial scans were positive so at our twenty week scan, although apprehensive, we were more concerned about avoiding seeing whether we were expecting a boy or a girl! When the sonographer told us that there seemed to be some fluid around the baby's organs a very real fear gripped us although nothing could have prepared us for the news we were about to receive. We were sent to the Fetal Medicine Unit at the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy and it was here, following another scan, that we were told our baby had Hydrops, an accumulation of fluid, in our case caused by our baby's lungs failing to develop, and that it was most likely that he or she would die in the womb. The following months involved numerous appointments and scans as we chose to continue with the pregnancy with the faith that miracles can happen. We found out that we were having a little girl, and supported by the incredible team led by Dr Tydeman, we had the opportunity to build a relationship with her in the precious weeks that followed before sadly, eight weeks later, our daughter Grace was stillborn on September 5th. Throughout this devastating time our lifeline became the team in the Fetal Medicine Unit and it is impossible to explain the impact they have had on our lives. As a result of this care, we would love to raise money to donate to the Unit in order for them to continue to support couples and families who need additional support through their pregnancies and this is the purpose of our Just Giving page, set up in the name of our Amazing Grace.

    Much love 💞
