Last year my father in law, Donald Mann and I went on the longest zip wire in Europe, Velocity in Bethesda.

We had such a lovely day, one I will never forget. We were nervous and excited and had massive grins on our faces on the bumpy ride up to the top of the mountain, where the launch pad was waiting for us! The views from the top were amazing, there was a beautiful blue sky and we could see for miles across North Wales.

We were strapped into our harnesses onto the zip wire for what seemed like forever before we heared 1....2....3..... GO!! Then we were off, zooming down the zip wire so fast, over the lake and past all our family cheering us on from the viewing area! It was amazing and we were so proud of ourselves. It was an unforgettable day and one we would talk about over and over again.

Unfortunately, not long after the zip wire, Don was diagnosed with cancer. We were all shocked, he was always so active and had a wonderful positive attitude towards life.

Don underwent an operation and treatment which seemed to be working, unfortunately, however, in the summer of 2016 he suffered complications and was hospitalised. After a brave battle, Don died in October 2016.

All the family are so grateful to all the medical staff that helped Don in Holywell hospital and we want to be able to repay them as well as raise money for McMillan nurses who are helping other families get through such a tough time.

We think the most fitting way to be able to raise money for these charities is a sponsored zip wire. Ten of Dons family members are booked to do this on Saturday 28th January 2017, close to Dons birthday.
