Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
In the latter months of 2017, I was fortunate enough to be selected as a member of the 32nd Unit to represent the United Kingdom at the 24th World Scout Jamboree to be held in West Virginia between the 22nd of August and 2nd of July, 2019. Made apparent even from that first evening of November for which the Unit was assembled in its entirety was that the opportunity offered thereby was to constitute that of a lifetime for all 50 000 international Scouts to be involved in the proceedings.
With this great honour, however, comes the unenviable task of raising not only the money necessary to pay for my own ticket, but those of two other Scouts globally, whose financial states would otherwise render them unable to attend. The encouragement of such an attitude of uncomplaining, even unrelenting usefulness and helpfulness, such as I feel best epitomises the Scout Movement in its entirety, also echoes well the nature of the Jamboree itself - a peaceful meeting of all Scouting nations (i.e. almost every country of this earth) aimed at effecting a notable and lasting change for the better.
Indeed, as B.P. himself put it,
The most worthwhile thing is to try to put happiness into the lives of others.
This sentiment, more than any other, is what unites those who will be in attendance, as we come together to learn of one another, alongside one another. In such a light, over the coming months and years, friendships will be formed which will never be lost, bonds which cannot, will not be broken and so will yet remain as we shape the world of tomorrow from our own today.
If you remain yet wanting for information, all things Jamboree are to be found at "https://www.2019wsj.org/". Otherwise, the web address of South Craven Jamboree Committee (of which I am one of three members) runs as follows: "https://www.southcravenjambo.org/". Thank you.

I have - for as long as memory holds true, that is - ever remained an active member of the local branches of the Scout Movement and prize above little else the value placed thereby upon courtesy, usefulness and readiness - upon being "prepared" in the truest sense of the term.
