My friend Entela or Ela as she is known by her friends, was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer which has spread to the bones. Doctors in the UK are unable to offer any further treatments. Luckily Entela had a chance to visit a German clinic where they carry out immunotherapy among other treatments to which she responded amazingly well! Entela and her partner Phil spent every penny they had to send her to Germany for the first phase of the treatment. Despite the initial success she desperately needs to complete the treatments in order to survive. This year, I am running the Dublin Marathon to raise money to help Entela to get better. This is her story:

"When i first discovered a lump in my left breast in late 2015, I along with the medical professionals I spoke to thought that it was unlikely to be any thing to worry about as I was only in my early thirties. Even when I was was in the ultrasound department I was told they were "checking just to be on the safe side".

It wasn't until I saw the face of the doctor performing the scan that I knew something was very, very wrong. I was Immediately sent on a whirlwind tour of hospital rooms where I was subjected to being scanned and poked multiple times. Even though I had not been officially diagnosed with cancer I walked out of the hospital doors that day knowing my life would never be the same again.

So much has happened since then. It's been a rollercoaster ride of hope and defeat. Two years on I find myself lying in bed unable to move with stage 4 painful bone metastasises. I was now under the care of palliative care team for pain management but no cure was offered. Just when it seemed all hope was lost we received some incredible news from a revolutionary new test performed in Greece which revealed that my cancer is extremely vulnerable to heat treatments and immunotherapy. This means that when my body is heated up using a technique called Hyperthermia treatment in combination with immunotherapy the cancer cells are destroyed.

There is a real chance I can put my cancer into remission using these breakthrough methods . BioMed clinic is considered to be one of the leading hyperthermia clinics in the world. It is my hope and dream that together we can raise the necessary funds to allow me to receive the life saving treatment offered there and to give me a second chance at life.

I feel I can start dreaming again about having a life....just the kind of life we normally take for granted.

We have spent every penny we had traveling to Germany earlier this year to test the treatment with startling results! I went from being completely bedbound to walking in the park in less than two weeks!

Once our money ran out we were forced to return to London . I am once again bedbound in terrible pain and in the hands of palliative care. We need to raise 50,000,00 to cover treatments, travel, accommodation and after care. I was told I am just in time for these treatments as cancer has not spread to other organs yet therefore I need to move quickly as everyday counts.
