    Story

We are planning on creating a CD that includes an educational booklet with activities, focused on helping children - from Key Stages 1 through 3 - understand the music they are listening to and hopefully pique a lifelong interest in the arts.

The music is varied and has been carefully selected, using a mixture of music easily recognisable form TV and film, to works less well known outside of the classical sphere.

The booklet will contain plenty of information and fun facts about the pieces and composers, as well as engaging rhythm games and challenging questions to test young minds. It will be set out so that it can be used both in the classroom as a teacher-led activity, or at home with the children themselves working through it. This mixture of listening and learning will hopefully instil further curiosity and a general enjoyment of classical music.

As creating a high quality CD is expensive, the money raised here would be going towards recording and mixing costs, as well as the costs of producing and printing the booklets and CDs in bulk.

We hope that this CD would help introduce classical music to the next generation. The social and health benefits of being involved in classical music are numerous, coupled with the pure joy playing an instrument brings to so many. Hopefully the CD could be inspiring to many students and motivate them to learn an instrument, or at the least to have more enjoyment of classical music. Unfortunately classical music can sometimes be viewed as 'elitist', and by showing students a taster of it, we would hope to prove that it's fun and can be for everyone.
