On June the 10th - I will be taking part in the Great North Swim in lake Windemere. The event I have entered is the 2 mile (3200km). That equates to approx 128 lengths of a 25m pool. This started as a personal challenge for me as I’m not the biggest fan of deep open water! So this year I have decided to have a go! I know its not a marathon or an iron man challenge but for me this isn‘t about a test of my fitness but more about completing a challenge that makes me nervous.

Recently I heard that Broadfield School that is local to me has had their funding for their minibuses cut. The school are constantly trying to raise funding for their school minibuses as it is so important for the special needs students to access the local community. The buses are also used for taking the students Swimming, to Hydrotherapy, day trips out and residential trips.

I have decided that seen as Im taking part I can also help the school and my local community at the same time!

The school has a registered charity 'Broadfield Friends Association' that raises funds for the school. The registered charity number is 1096278 so anyone donating can see that this is an official charity.

I dont have a target as such but just giving asked me to set one. I think £500 would be a great help to the school and the students so, if I could be as kind to ask you to donate toward this target I‘d be very greatful - it doesn‘t have to be much 50p is great if thats all that you can spare.

Although this isn‘t a race I’m hoping to complete the event in 1 hour 15 minutes which is about average. I‘m currently swimming 3/4 times a week for an hour with a longer swim equivalent to the distance of the event 128 lengths of a 25m pool.
