Story
I am going to abseil off the Transporter Bridge, a height of 68 metres, to raise funds towards my attendance at the 24th World Scout Jamboree in Summer 2019.
This is one of many things I'm doing to raise the money to attend. Other things include bag packing at cleaning at home much to my mothers relief!
What is the World Scout Jamboree?
The 24th World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) in 2019 is the world's biggest scouting event, which will be attended by 45,000 scouts from across the globe. Hosted at the Summit Bechtel Reserve, West Virginia, the camp will offer chances to learn about different cultures and discuss real world problems and conservation. This 24th World Scout Jamboree is unique because it is a team effort by Scouts Canada, Asociación de Scouts de México, and the Boy Scouts of America.
“World Scout Jamboree is above all an educational event that brings together the world’s young people to promote peace and mutual understanding and to develop leadership and life skills.” WSJ official website .
Why do I need to fundraise?
The cost of travelling to and attending the Jamboree has to be met by fundraising. The funds raised will also help Scouts based in less fortunate places in the world to attend the Jamboree and benefit from the experience. The fundraising is also a great opportunity for me to learn new skills, conquer fears and take part in activities across my local community.
Please sponsor me to make abseiling off this very high bridge worthwhile. I’ll be dangling on 25 February for anyone who wants to watch!
Many thanks in advance,
Ben
