Benjamin was born at 29 weeks weighing 2lbs 8oz. He spent 4 months in intensive care neonatal unit at Liverpool Women's Hospital. He had a range of complex medical needs including going home on oxygen. Over the months that followed it became apparent that Benjamin was not hitting milestones such as being able to sit up, feed himself or communicate. Benjamin was diagnosed with diplegia cerebral palsy and global developmental delay. He also has chronic lung disease which affects his lungs and breathing and suffers from seizures. Recently with the help of physiotherapists and family and friends Ben has been able to walk independently with the help of a Kaye walker (walking frame). Together we have been building up distances to hopefully one day walk without any aid. Recently funding for SEND schools in our area has been cut equivalent to losing £510 per student. We are owe so much of Ben's development to the people of Chesnut Lodge, we would love to raise even just one students budget cut to help towards classroom funding for the teachers and staff.
