Story

The monsoon in Dharamsala can be fierce - this year it has caused serious damage to the teaching and sleeping accomodation at NYINGTOB LING. Let's get those roofs and walls fixed before winter snows set in!

This is the Temple at NYINGTOB LING, named by His Holiness The Dalai Lama, it means REALM OF COURAGE. It was founded nearly twenty years ago by Mrs Nawang Lhamo to help uprooted Tibetan families cope with children who have mental health and learning difficulties, and physical disabilities. It has grown into a beautiful set of buildings and garden, offering compassion, stimulation, and education to the fifty people living here. The traditions, culture and Buddhism of Tibet are part of everyday life at Nyingtob Ling. The recent monsoon brought floods and damage to the fabric of the Project. Many of the bedrooms are damp with leaking roofs and wall plaster is falling apart both inside and out. Fixing the roof cracks of the boys and girls accommodation will cost £944, which you have already raised. The crumbling plaster now needs repairing indoors it costs £500 and £833 for the outside. To then paint the whole hostel will cost £1111. We aim to raise the remaining £2340 by October 29th, when this Appeal closes. The funds that NYINGTOB LING receives from the Indian Government does not cover this sort of emergency. But we CAN step in!

Also, Just Giving is giving us this page FEE-FREE, meaning every penny raised goes directly to this Realm of Courage. Click the DONATE button now. THANK YOU. And please tell your friends.

Here's someone who will benefit from your generosity:

Yeshi was 16 when she came to live at NYINGTOB LING. Before that, she ran away from home and was on the streets. Now, she calls NYINGTOB LING home, she is a skilled crafts woman and has friends and a future.

With the buildings all repaired, Yeshi's education and development is secured. And remember - your money goes at least THREE TIMES as far in India! THANK YOU.

Please give to this inspiring Project, this REALM OF COURAGE. Read more about the Project here: Nyingtob Ling

The funds have reached 35% of the (new) total: £1204. Marvellous. £2184 still needed in the next 19 days. A friend just gave me another £1 when I told her that was about a day's wages for a building labourer. And GB pounds go much further in India - worth at least three times more, please don't think any amount is too small. The first £1000 is on its way to NYINGTOB LING, that will more than cover the re-roofing which was estimated at £944. THANK YOU.
