Hello,

My name is Beth Kelly, I am 16 years old, I have recently just finished my GCSES and I am currently studying three A-Levels, they are, Sports BTEC, Science BTEC and Geography at Sixth Form in Mary Hare School.

Mary Hare is now organising a trip to Nepal, to encourage the sixth form students to gain experiences and it is a fantastic opportunity to enrich and encourage global citizenship, for three weeks.

I have always had an interest in travelling different countries and experiencing their culture, so I applied for a place and I received the good news saying that I can to go on the trip and I am absolutely thrilled to be informed that I will be attending Nepal for three weeks. This would tick off one of the countries on my wish list.

After the 2015 earthquake left huge areas of Nepal devastated and local communities without even basic needs. All donations towards Nepal 2017 trip will enable us to buy resources and necessities for the deaf young people we will be working with.

I am very keen to teach deaf pupils basic mathematics and basic English, as I love seeing pupils thriving, and it's all because I have committed to making their lives better.
I have a huge passion for sports, and part of this trip will contain a lot of hiking, up on the Himalayas Mountain, not only will this fulfil my passion but also will keep me fit and healthy. This hiking will require a lot of team work and communication, because it will be a very huge and tough challenge. Communication and team work are the two vital life essentials to have, as they play a huge part of our lives. I would like to make a life changing impact on the Nepal Deaf Community, as I am aware that third world countries perceive deafness or any disabilities negatively. They also see deafness as a punishment from God, and/or they, sometimes, see deaf people as mentally challenged.

With this knowledge, I want to teach the Nepalese deaf community about their rights and about deaf identity.
