Like most towns, Fairford has grown incredibly quickly and as result, it seems that we're not as aware as perhaps we used to be, about issues happening on our doorsteps! It recently came to my attention, by coincidence, that there were two young families, living in Fairford, whose lives in March '18 had been turned upside down.

Eleri, is a bright, happy and vivacious 7 year old. She lives with mum, dad, younger brother Owen & her favourite two pets, Bertie the cat & Nessa the dog. Eleri has always been active, taking part in gymnastics, drama, dancing & swimming. This all changed in March 2018, when after complaining about pain in her right leg, she was diagnosed with a very rare form of bone cancer called osteosarcoma - so rare that only 25-30 people are diagnosed a year. It is extremely painful, debilitating and aggressive and needless to say, has changed Eleri's and her family's' lives.

Poppy is a happy, loving little girl who enjoys drawing, cooking, dressing up and playing outside with her little sister Daisy. Poppy had just turned 3 and had recently started at Pre-School when she became unwell. Within a week, Poppy was diagnosed with leukaemia and as a result has to undergo a vigorous treatment programme for the next two years - the end of her first year at school. Poppy is very brave and just wants to be like any other 3 year old.
