Story
Last weekend I visited the Ritsona Refugee camp with donations for the adults and children there. There are around 750 people at this isolated old airforce base. 200 of them children. I went with my friend Mary and we took some new clothes and shoes, socks and underwear and nappies that we had bought and some donated items - really whatever I could squash into my hire car.
There is a huge need for children's basic necessities such as socks and underwear.
It is possible to buy children's underwear and socks in our local market in Evia. This saves on the cost cost of excess luggage to the airline.
I would be really grateful for any help you can offer with this fundraising. I am returning to will the camp in the week between Christmas and New Year.
I undertake to spend all your hard earned money wisely and ensure the underwear and socks get to the children.
Ritsona Camp is a long way from villages and amenities. The children living there have trekked a long way from their homes in Syria, we can only imagine what they have experienced and seen. At Ritsona there are portacabins for families. The older children go to school after the Greek children go home. There are very few facilities for the families and no real contact with the outside world.
Thank you for reading this , please contact me if I can answer any questions.
Thank you so much and Merry Christmas

7 years agoToday 300 children in Ritsona have new underwear and socks ! Thanks to your amazing generosity. We spent almost 6 hours working our way through the families who came to our 'stalls' to collect their clothes. We also took 220kg other donations. In total we spent £1000 as we topped it up to ensure we didn't run out before the final child. In the end we had lots to leave for the children to have more and for all the new children arriving. 180 in the last 3 weeks alone. On Friday a family of 11 arrived on Christmas weekend. Thank you so much xx
