    Story

The New Apostolic primary school in Bidar, India. Provides both local language (Kannada) and English Medium education to children from families that fall below the poverty line in this part of India. I have been involved with the English Medium school since spending six months volunteering in 2006.

The aim of the school is to give any child the opportunity to learn in a safe and supportive environment regardless of their socio-economic background. However, the water supply system to the school is inadequate. While mains water is supplied to the school directly it is costly and unclean. Each year children are becoming sick from drinking and washing in the contaminated water. The system is also incomplete, and the already struggling school is loosing money daily just because of leaks in the system.

The water tank is the only means of water supply to the school; the 150 students and 20 staff risk their health daily just to take refreshment from the tank.

To help I am asking for donations that will cover the repair costs of the water system and to cover the costs of a water purifying unit which will provide clean water to the little children and hard working staff at the school..

Thank you all for your excellent support. The total raised so far is enough to buy a large water purification unit to serve the school. The purification unit filters mains water allowing to be safely consumed by the pupils and teachers at school. The remaining amount will cover the cost of repairing the leaking water supply system in the school grounds. By saving the school vital water we are all contributing to a better and safer education for the children. Thanks again
