Dear friends and family,

As many of you will already know, my little sister, Leanne is epileptic and has mild cerebral palsy. Over the years I have undertaken a series of fundraising activities, funded by your gratefully appreciated generosity, for the wonderful institutions that have helped Leanne throughout her young life, allowing her to grow into a beautiful young lady with the mischievous streak that makes her so well-loved. These activities have ranged from running the inaugural Cambridge Half Marathon, in 2012, for the wonderful Addenbrooke’s Hospital to taking on the Three Peaks Challenge for the amazing Granta School.

This year, it feels right to do something more directly for the benefit of Leanne and so, on Sunday 5th March, I will be taking to the roads of Cambridge, for a second time, to run the Cambridge Half Marathon. As if by fate (and totally unplanned), the 5th of March just happens to be Leanne’s 22nd birthday!

Like a growing number of people in the UK, Leanne really loves cycling. Sammie (her best friend and carer) takes Leanne to 'You Can Bike Too' at Milton Country Park where Leanne rides specially designed trikes, for adults with disabilities, around the beautiful park.

As the summer fast approaches we felt it would be great to be able to get one of these trikes for Leanne so that she can cycle more often, at home. The benefit to Leanne’s on-going physical needs (improved muscle strength and co-ordination) would be immeasurable and the smile cycling brings to her face (check out the photos) most certainly suggests Leanne enjoys this a little too much! At £2000+ for one of these trikes, every little bit of your generosity will go a long way to helping Leanne get a trike and will bring immeasurable joy to the warm summer days that will soon be upon us.
